DURING
1962, WITH ONLY ONE SERVICE TRUCK, the basement of a school in Hyattsville, Maryland
became the home of United Roofing and Sheet Metal, known today as United Sheet
Metal. But within two years Jimmie Roberts' young company had already outgrown
its humble beginnings in the school's basement. In 1964, needing more room for
the operation, and its administrative offices, United Sheet Metal moved to Beltsville,
Maryland. But Jimmie and his company wouldn't stop there. In 1966 a thriving United
Sheet Metal relocated once more to Tuxedo, Maryland, where it would stay for the
next eleven years. Then in 1977, after construction was complete on their new
70,000 sq. ft. facility, Jimmie moved the operation again. This move took United
Sheet Metal to Capitol Heights, Maryland. In 2000, with almost 40 delivery and service
trucks, the continued success and growth of United Sheet Metal, and the Roberts
family, led them to their current location, a 100,000 sq. ft. facility at 51 Ritchie
Rd., Capitol Heights, Maryland.
